Time and again, Springdale's metro area is ranked high nationally by Forbes in the categories of jobs, careers and places to do business. The latest Forbes list of Best Places for Jobs among mid-sized cities in the U.S. finds Springdale's metro ranked fifth behind El Paso, Corpus Christi, Anchorage and McAllen, TX and ahead of sixth place Little Rock, Shreveport, Charleston, S.C., Knoxville and Provo.
The Springdale metro ranks 32nd in the country on Forbes latest Best Places for Business and Careers list. Ranked 40th nationally in cost of doing business and 42nd in projected job growth, it's clear why so many businesses look to Northwest Arkansas to expand and grow.
The 2010 Census shows that nearly half of all of Arkansas' population growth in the past decade occurred in Washington and Benton Counties and counties in our region grew by an average of 944 new residents a month in the previous 10 years. Springdale's home county grew by nearly 29 percent since 2000. With 70,000 residents, Springdale lies in the geographic center of a metropolitan area approaching 461,000.
