A Helpful Checklist for New Residents
There's nothing like the excitement of moving to a new town - new friends to meet, new places to visit and new adventures to explore. Moving also means making sure you take care of the details of life like changing your address, finding a new doctor or dentist and getting the kids enrolled in school. Here's a handy checklist if you're planning on moving to town that will hopefully ensure you don't forget someting important.

| Contact the electricity, gas, water, telephone, trash collection and television cable companies about establishing service. See the "Important Phone Numbers" page for key phone numbers. | |
| Identify your new family doctor and dentist and locate a pharmacy to use. Locate the Northwest Medical Center and its emergency room entrance. | |
| Explore the many opportunities available for worship in the region. See the "Church Guide" page for a comprehensive list. | |
| Visit the post office to be sure your new address is on file. Send change-of-address notices to your friends, family and your credit card companies. | |
| Subscribe to a local newspaper. | |
| Register to vote. Contact the Washington County Clerk's office at 479-444-1711 for more information. | |
| Get an updated driver's license. Call the Revenue Office at 479-751-4498 to find out what you'll need to do. | |
| Open a bank account and reserve a safe-deposit box at a bank branch convenient to your home or business. | |
| Find a favorite grocery store, dry cleaners, beauty shop and barber. | |
| Enroll your child in school. Schedule a visit with their principal and teacher. See the "Education" page for more information. | |
| Be sure your children know your new address, home and office phone numbers and how to reach you in case of an emergency. Identify someone they can call should they not be able to reach you. | |
| Meet with a new insurance agent, accountant and attorney. | |
| Get a license for your pet. Call 479-750-8166 for details. | |
