Beaver Lake
There's Great Family Fun at the Lake
A Springdale resident or tourist need only drive a few miles from town to visit Beaver Lake, where fishing, hunting and hiking opportunities abound. The lake itself has a 500-mile shoreline and winds through more than 70 miles of scenic Northwest Arkansas..
Visitors can easily enjoy the beauty of Beaver Lake as seasons change. Long recognized as a great spot for striped bass fishing, lucky anglers may also attract bream, crappie, large and smallmouth bass, northern pike, walleye and white bass onto their lines. Beaver Lake is home to the annual Wal-Mart FLW bass tournament.
Besides the underwater life, the area around the lake also boasts a multitude of wildlife in its thick, wooded terrain. A hunter can score deer, quail, rabbit, squirrel, turkey and other game during a routine hunt in this area. During almost every Arkansas hunting season, there's an animal in season near the lake.
If fishing and hunting aren't enough to draw you to the area, hiking trails may do the trick. Treks ranging from one to five miles keep novice and expert hikers alike coming back to the lake. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers supervise camping on Beaver Lake. Near Springdale, the three closest lake parks are War Eagle Park, Hickory Creek Park and Horseshoe Bend Park. For those interested in water sports, swimming, scuba diving, water skiing, jet skiing, wakeboarding and more are also offered. Those who do not consider themselves athletic can enjoy boating or sightseeing in and around the lake. Several boat docks (with rentals), picnic areas and grills are also available throughout the year.
