Springdale Public Library…Your Library in the Park
One of the most progressive libraries in the state, the Springdale Public Library is located on the northwest corner of beautiful Murphy Park (Pleasant St. & Maple Ave.). The Library's popularity is evidenced by the fact that more than one half of Springdale's population have library cards and more than 1,200 people visit the Library daily.
The Library contains approximately 133,000 items on it shelves and a reference collection in excess of 4,500 volumes. Large print, Spanish language, and audio books can be found, as can videos and dvds, music and sound recordings, computer software, 300 popular magazine titles, and 20 local, regional, and national newspapers.
Library features include a spacious children's area, which includes space for programs, crafts, computer activities, and filtered Internet access. Teens also have an area of their very own including books, magazines, audios and videos, many of which have been chosen for teens, by teens.
Electronic resources available at the Library include a computer lab and training center which features 25 computers, all with Internet access, that are equipped with Microsoft Word and Excel and many with PowerPoint and Publisher software. In addition, wireless Internet access is available at no charge. The Library's website provides links to adult, teen, and children's Internet sites, as well as access to the Library's catalog, a variety of Internet databases, and the ability to access one's Library account information via the Internet.
Quiet, comfortable reading areas, many with expansive views of Murphy Park, are located throughout the building. The Friends of the Library bookstore sells used books for all ages and interests. Library staff continually updates program offerings including children's reading programs, Spanish language programs, Internet training, and teen and adult cultural and informational programs.
The Springdale Public Library is open 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday; and, 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday. For more information about your Library in the Park, contact a librarian at 750-8180, or visit the Library website.
